What to expect:
During the week we will be focusing on preparing for the last of the year’s harvests - Samhain (pronounced Sow (as in cow)- in). Samhain calls us to honour our ancestors, so we will be asking children to bring with them a photocopy of a photo of relatives that have passed away - grandparents or great-grandparents. We will use the image to create an altar where we talk about family trees and remember those loved ones that we may have never met, but whom without them, we wouldn’t be here today. We welcome children to bring stories of their relatives that they would like to share - perhaps a great aunt that was an amazing painter or a great grandfather that was a scientist.
We will be decorating pumpkins ready for the celebration at the weekend - but with a focus on why we celebrate in terms of nature based spirituality rather than the modern day commercial aspect.
We will also be doing some face painting - so please tell us if you’re child is allergic and if you would rather they didn’t partake in this part.
We will be cooking a vegetarian meal around the camp fire on the Wednesday and making magical potions with hedgerow herbs and plants.
The group will have the opportunity to create autumnal wreaths to brighten our doors as the nights draw in and the days get shorter.
Every camp is designed with each individual child’s needs in mind, so we look forward to your booking so we can start prepping our activities based on your child’s interest and the season of Autumn!
Please don’t hesitate to email hello@meadow.education if you have any questions. If you are struggling financially, please get in touch and we can offer a discount in some situations.
Lots of love,
Laura, Marie and all the team!
