Liz
Hello, I'm Liz and I'm a Secondary school teacher that specializes in Drama and English, based in North London. I love finding creative ways to teach, ensuring my students are having fun whilst doing so. My experience in teaching is international and I have taught many students who have English as an additional language (EAL). I furthermore have experience teaching young learners with a range of special educational needs and hold the patience and positivity to ensure these students are equally capable of achieving success.
I'm also offering students of all ages to take part in LAMDA Acting Exams. LAMDA is a great way of expanding theatrical knowledge, confidence, practical and social skills. Exams can be completed independently, however, LAMDA is so flexible you can do an exam with all of your friends (or it is a great way to make new ones!). These exams are also recognized by Universities (providing UCAS-Points) and Acting Agencies.
Nicolle
Hello! I am Nicolle and I am a qualified teacher. I love tutoring and seeing the progress of my students. My approach is child-centred putting the student at the heart of the learning process and discovering from their perspective how they learn and what motivates them. In my sessions the phrase 'I am rubbish at...' is banned as students quickly realise it's just they do not know yet it and it is reframed to 'I am practising...'. Each session is tailored to their needs and learning goals; aiming to build confidence and find enjoyment in their own learning. Most importantly we have fun!
Lotte
Hello I’m Lotte! I enjoy working with children of all ages and have worked with in various school settings since 2013 including mainstream, S.E.N. and alternative provisions. I have particular experience working with KS1 and KS2 and with children who have additional needs such as ADHD or Autism. I’m passionate about finding creative ways to engage children in their work and help them become active and curious learners. I find that incorporating the child’s interests into their learning as much as possible really helps to motivate them and make learning feel less daunting. Whether it’s mermaids, Minecraft or Manchester United, I will find a way to weave in our learning objectives! As well as tutoring I work part time as a Child and Adolescent Integrative Counsellor and as an Equine Therapist. When I’m not working you will probably find me hanging out with my horses and dog or enjoying time in nature – whatever the weather!
Sarah
I’m Sarah and I have a BA in English Literature (2:1) and a MA in Anthropology and Cultural Politics (Distinction). I’ve been working in Business Development for over 3 years as a Bid Manager and Writer, so writing is my speciality! I made the decision to switch into tutoring young people so that I can work alongside my part-time Psychotherapy Diploma. I believe every child can get at least one thing out of a novel, short story, or poem and it’s my role to help students work out what that is so they can connect to the text and create a thoughtful, unique response.
Connie
I am a sunny, calm and patient person and I love working with all ages. I am especially good with little ones and those that lack confidence. I am a great believer, through my own home-schooled experience as a child, that kids actually love to learn if given the space, time and nurturing environment where they feel safe. I am passionate about forming an authentic rapport with the child and I use fun and creative ways to achieve this.
I enjoy supporting children with a whole range of subjects and can tutor up to GCSE level. I have a background and special interest in horses, so although perhaps unusual, I would be open to tutoring Equine studies as well. I have experience of working with children within a variety of different settings: supporting children with Special Educational Needs and behavioural difficulties; learning support assistant at a residential school for children with autism. I have also volunteered at an Equine Therapy Centre with groups of children and young people with behavioural difficulties. I have also had some experience as forest school Camp Assistant and nannying for young children/babies.
As a person I love being creative, reading and spending time outside in nature and family is a big part of my life.
Louisa
I’ve been a teacher in Haringey and Enfield schools for 20 years and held senior posts for 10 of those. I have led on Inclusion and Assessment and I’m a Senior Marker for the KS2 English SATs. I am involved in Educational Research as a test administrator and adjudicator and, in addition, I’m currently working with the Government’s chosen provider to roll out a National Maths Catch-Up programme for KS2. I have also been involved in working groups/panels for writing national tests and I’ve worked with advisors and senior leaders to peer-assess schools in readiness for Ofsted.
I have many years of experience teaching Y6 and I am proficient in preparing children for SATs tests as well as grammar and independent school entrance tests.
I am currently in post as a Deputy Headteacher at an Enfield school.
My Safeguarding and Prevent training are both current and regularly reviewed and updated.
I hold a full, current DBS certificate which is searchable on the database.
My key aim is to form a good working relationship with children so that they feel confident and able. Then I can equip them with the knowledge and skills they need to excel and achieve their full potential.
I have two children of my own - a boy and a girl.
Sascha
I'm Sash and I have worked with many children and young people; either facilitating and teaching workshops or assisting and creating a piece of theatre with them. I have been lucky enough to do some of this work internationally and I have also worked with EAL students. In the holidays I work at an art club in my local area where we look after 30+ children. I have previously worked in schools as a teaching assistant, as well as giving one on one support to children that have additional educational needs or support, in a youth hub as well as a school environment. I love working with children and young people, I find them fascinating, I often leave a workshop feeling as though I have learnt something myself! Each session will be specifically tailored to the child's individual needs and focused specifically on what they need to work on, after a quick reflective assessment upon the first session.
I am an all-round creative in general that loves to learn and try new things!
