Children are masters of creation - intuitive and instinctive. In this workshop we will focus on the stamping process of block printing, giving the children the tools to use their imagination to create freely.
Working in a dynamic group, unexpected and improvised marks and colours are created. Children get to be immersed in the joy and playfulness of “happy accidents“.
Introduction to block printing is the first workshop in a series of workshops that explore print-making and surface design, held by The Moon Jumpers and Tomato Education.
Traditionally wood or block printing was used to print text, images or patterns as a method of printing on textiles and later paper. Used widely throughout East Asia and originating in China . This process involves sketching and carving a design into a block of wood, applying ink or dye, and stamping it onto a finished cloth or paper.
